Questions

Which points are worth the most?

Of the programs here, Chase Ultimate Rewards and World of Hyatt points are worth the most to us, at about 1.5 cents each. Marriott Bonvoy points are worth the least, at about 0.7 cents.

How do you decide what a point is worth?

Each value is a floor: the least a point should get you before you spend it instead of cash. When an award gets more than that, the planner uses points; when it gets less, it pays cash and keeps the points.

Should I use points or cash for my trip?

Use points when the award's value per point beats the floor for that program, and keep them when it doesn't. Add your balances in the planner and it makes that choice for every flight and hotel.

Let the planner decide

Add your balances and every plan uses points only where they beat cash.
